The new Radisson Blu Atlantic Hotel, Stavanger, has opened its doors

This week, one of Norway’s most iconic hotels, the Radisson Blu Atlantic Hotel, Stavanger, reopened its doors after more than a year of renovations at a value of NOK 465 million. The General Manager is delighted to welcome the guests back, and is confident the ‘new’ hotel will contribute positively to the entire region.

"It is wonderful to welcome back all our staff-members, guests and locals. We are looking forward to again giving all of Stavanger, and the rest of Norway, world-class food-, culture- and hotel experiences," says Jens Brandin, General Manager at Radisson Blu Atlantic Hotel, Stavanger.

Rezidor Hotel Group and KLP have invested NOK 465 million in the renovation of this landmark hotel, and the ambitions are sky high.

"This has been an exciting project for KLP. We know that the hotel means a lot for the locals in Stavanger, and that many have a strong relationship with the hotel. The positive cooperation with Backe Rogaland and Rezidor Hotel Group has been crucial in order for Radisson Blu Atlantic Hotel to reaffirm its position as Stavanger's key hotel," says Christopher Raanaas, Managing Director of KLP Eiendom's hotel management.

To ensure that the guests get the best experiences possible, the hotel has undergone an extensive renovation covering all parts of the hotel. Now, the hotel has a brand-new reception, while the guest rooms, the 15 meeting rooms (with a total capacity of more than 2000 visitors) and public areas are newly renovated and ready to welcome the guests. The new lobby appears as an art piece in itself, and is the perfect venue for exhibitions, festive events and cultural occasions. In January 2018, the brand-new restaurant will also open, with the award-winning international ‘FireLake’ concept.

"The hotel has always been a cultural gathering point; and, with this upgrade, we are aiming to again become the city's favorite meeting place. That is why we have put a lot of love into creating the city's best meeting and event venues, as well as what is probably Norway's most stunning lobby”, says the General Manager proudly, adding that the service concept has also been upgraded.

Will contribute to the entire region

The renovation of Radisson Blu Atlantic Hotel, Stavanger, is a collaboration between Rezidor Hotel Group and KLP. Rezidor has invested approx. NOK 165 million and KLP, through its property company, NOK 300 million.

"We are grateful for the enthusiasm and support from Stavanger municipality throughout the entire project period. With our long-term commitment, we wish to be a valuable player in the city," says Gunnar Gjørtz, Managing Director of KLP Eiendom.

The renovation of the Radisson Blu Atlantic Hotel is part of Rezidor Hotel Group's most extensive renovation process in the Nordic region ever. Within a few years, the hotel group will have invested EUR 110 million in the renovations of several Radisson Blu and Park Inn by Radisson hotels in the area. In addition, the property owners are also investing considerable amounts in the renovation projects.

"We hope to contribute positively to the entire region by attracting large conferences, cultural events, gala dinners and exhibitions. We will do all we can to ensure that hotel guests and city residents want to use the hotel, both for business and leisure. And, we want our international guests to get an authentic experience of Stavanger," says Ronald Smithjes, Regional Director Norway for Rezidor Hotel Group.

Designed by Stavanger Architects

The Stavanger-based design company LINK Architecture is responsible for the design of the new Radisson Blu Atlantic Hotel, Stavanger.
 
“LINK Architecture has exceptional local knowledge, and that has been important as we want to build on the tradition of the hotel and its important history," said Ronald Smithjes.

"Iconic", "Stylish" and "Sophisticated" have been key terms in the development of the interior – and durable quality materials, such as marble, brass, copper and dark wood, have laid the foundations for the design. With its straight lines, the new interior has references back to the 1950s/60s, combined with a modern use of the materials and design ideas of today.
To enhance the guest experience, the designs of all 365 guest rooms are inspired by the rich history and soul of the hotel and Stavanger city. 

“The design reflects the city's and hotel's history through the choice of materials, interior and art. Guests should be able to recognize items, and also make new discoveries. Design classics are mixed with distinctive, custom-made furniture, fabrics and textiles”, explains Smithjes.

LINK Architecture explains that it has been important that the exterior and the interior interact and enhance each other. The materials and design expressions are aligned and form a whole, from the second the guest sees the facade, enters the building and experiences the hotel. 

Just a short walk away from Radisson Blu Atlantic Hotel, Stavanger, guests will also find its sister hotel Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Stavanger. This hotel has 215 inviting guest rooms and four modern meeting spaces. Radisson Blu Royal Hotel is also home to the successful 26 North Restaurant & Social Club, which guests have ranked on TripAdvisor as the best restaurant in Stavanger.
