InvestChile for Europe office opens in Frankfurt

Frankfurt (ots) Chile seeks to attract more foreign investment, especially in clean energy , technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. The state agency for investment promotion InvestChile opens its European office in Frankfurt; The objective is to accompany potential European investors with services, networks and guidance. 

In 2016, foreign investments in Chile were mainly destined to the renewable energy and mining sectors. Currently, two thirds of the solar energy generated in Latin America comes from Chile , which also offers opportunities for innovation and investment in the food industry, digital export services, services and technologies for mining, and tourism, describes the Director of InvestChile , Carlos Álvarez.

The South American country is known for its raw materials: More than half of the lithium deposits in the world, as well as almost 30% of the copper deposits are in the country.

In this regard, the Minister of Economy of Chile , Jorge Rodríguez, explains the importance of productive diversification: " One of the central themes of our government has been to change and sophisticate Chile's investment matrix ."

Chile , member of the OECD, has maintained a free trade agreement with the EU since 2003. "The majority of foreign investment originates in countries such as Spain, the Netherlands and Germany," the Minister emphasizes: "In addition,Chile is the oldest trading partner of the EU in Latin America."

Chile leads the most relevant business environment rankings in the Latin American region. The country also has 26 free trade agreements with more than 60 countries and is a founding member of the Pacific Alliance, a free trade zone that gives access to a market with 217 million consumers.
