Siemens to Break Ground at Walpole Healthcare Advanced Manufacturing and R&D Facility

Siemens Healthineers, along with government and industry leaders, will break ground on a major expansion of a key manufacturing and R&D facility, which will create up to 700 new high-tech jobs. The $300 million investment exemplifies the company’s broader strategy for creating local value in the U.S.—its largest market—and for furthering its ability to innovate transformative healthcare solutions and to improve the lives of the patients served by its products.       With more than 60 manufacturing sites in the U.S., this investment demonstrates Siemens’ commitment to strong R&D and manufacturing capabilities that provide the backbone for robust innovation and an outstanding pipeline of products. The Walpole facility is a flagship Siemens Healthineers manufacturing and R&D facility for laboratory diagnostics devices. Laboratory diagnostics affect 60-70% of all critical clinical decisions, such as whether to admit, discharge and/or initiate therapy for a patient.     The U.S. is an extremely vital production location for Siemens, as well as one of the most important research centers, and a key base from which the company exports globally. In the past 15 years, Siemens has invested nearly $35 billion in America, including more than $1 billion in R&D annually and more than $50 million in job training programs. The Walpole expansion will add to Siemens’ employee base of approximately 50,000 people throughout all 50 states and Puerto Rico. In fiscal 2016, the company reported U.S. revenue of $23.7 billion, including $5.4 billion in exports.       Siemens Healthineers is the separately managed healthcare business of Siemens AG enabling healthcare providers worldwide to meet their current challenges and to excel in their respective environments.
